Etiquette

Introduction

Members should show respect to the President, the Lady President, the Captain and Lady Captain at all times. All have precedence on the first tee.

It is essential that members read notices in order to familiarize themselves with handicaps, competitions, social events, local rules, etc. Information will be posted on: the Notice Board in the Clubhouse; the club homepage; the club link to Facebook and/or App for smartphones. A copy of the Rules of Golf is available for each member. Members should be familiar with the principal rules and should consult the book if in doubt. The section on Etiquette and Courtesy on the Course is essential reading for all golfers. Complaints should be sent in writing to the committee.

Members with “Away” handicaps must clearly indicate their home club on the scorecard for all singles competitions and the scores must be entered in the computer in Ballyneety GC at the end of the round.

Rules for Club Competitions

TIME SHEETS: Players should use the online booking system (or ring the office) to reserve a tee time. A competitor must start at the time allocated. If a competitor is late they shall forfeit their position and shall not be allowed play until a vacancy occurs. Players should notify their opposition and partners in good time if they are withdrawing from the time sheet.

The competition committee reserve the right to alter the time or date of any competition as necessitated by the weather, the conditions of the course, insufficient entries for the competition or such circumstances as they see fit. Any change will be posted on the Notice Board and the electronic media portals.

ENTRY FEES: These must be paid BEFORE play commences.

RULES of PLAY: A maximum of four balls shall be played in singles competitions unless otherwise specified by the committee.

Play and Etiquette

All competitions must start from the first tee unless otherwise instructed by the committee. Divots must be replaced, pitch marks repaired and bunkers raked after play. No player should hit a shot until the players in front are out of range. If a match fails to keep its place and loses in distance more than one clear hole in front of them, it may be passed on a request being made. Players searching for a ball must signal oncoming players to pass them and must not continue until those players are out of range. Crossing boundary fences into private land is strictly forbidden. Exercise extreme caution when attempting to retrieve balls from water hazards.

Please respect the golf course. No Practicing on the course, ie: playing multiple balls on an individual hole. Please use the Driving Range and/or Golf Academy.
